Can you believe it? What an honor! About three weeks go, I released a video highlighting some YouTubers that have helped me learn Linux. And the gentleman from the Linux Mench reached out to me to say thanks to me including his channel in his video.
Not only that, but I've been seeing some of his viewers commenting on my videos. We've been watching other videos on each other's channel and I've had a great time communicating with the Linux Mench back and forth.
He's helped me understand Arch and MX Linux a little better. And what drew me into his channel was that he used the word Mench. "Mench" is a Yiddish word (I believe) that means a stand-up guy, a gentleman, a good man, someone of note. Just an all around good guy. I remember hearing this word in my youth in NYC and it brought back some fond memories. So, naturally, I had to subscribe.
Since then, he's been a great resource for Linux for me. Look, to be honest, I realize that the content on my channel is geared for beginners. I feel that we all have to start somewhere, so what a better place to start than at the very beginning. And I know that some of my viewers would like to see more advanced content. And I hope to make more advanced videos, once I learn and I completely understand things better, I'll feel more confdent in making those more advanced videos.
In the meantime, that video I made highlights those YouTubers who do make more advanced content, and may be of interest to my viewers. My hopes was twofold: (1) I wanted to say "Thank you" to the YouTubers I watch and can understand. And (2) I wanted to provide a place for my viewers to go and get more advanced video topics on Linux from the people I watched. Especially from the Linux Mench.
I'm just so grateful that the Linux Mench reached out to say "thank you," and I'm especially grateful for his kind comments on my videos. It's one of those humbling moments, you know? I'm so happy to have met Mr. Mench. Happy enough that this is the first blog entry on our new website.
